Plagiarism and Duplicate Publication Policy

Plagiarism and self-plagiarism

A special case of authors misconduct is plagiarism - the publication (in full or in part) of another person's work or ideas as one's own and/or reproduction of published texts (published works of art) of other authors without indicating authorship (Art. 42 of the Law of Ukraine "On Education").

Plagiarism is a theft of intellectual property, therefore original author's articles submitted to this journal, which contain significant textual borrowings from other articles, monographs, etc. without indicating the authorship, will be immediately rejected.

Publishing (in full or in part) of one's own previously published scientific results as new scientific results is self-plagiarism.

To avoid this, when re-using text from their previously published articles, the author (co-authors) must format this text as a citation with an appropriate reference to the original source, in order to avoid misleading readers' perception of the uniqueness of the new article.

Post Duplication Policy

Cases where authors reuse large parts of their publications without clear reference to the original source are considered duplication of publications.

Examples of duplication include publishing an identical article in multiple journals or adding a small amount of new data to a previously published article.

If an author wishes to submit an article to a journal that has been, in full or in part, already published or will be published in another journal, the author should specify the details in the submission cover letter. The editors of the journal may consider such an article if the other work is published in the language of the European Union countries, and its main results and conclusions are important for the Ukrainian-speaking audience. In such cases, the journal may publish a translation of the article in Ukrainian with a corresponding reference to the original English-language source.

The journal editors support pre-publication on recognized preprint servers for review by other scholars prior to formal submission to the journal. It is also allowed to publish information about the research in theses (materials) of conferences, lecture texts, qualification papers before the submission of the article with full research results. Cases of such previous publications must be reported to the editors in the cover letter to the submission.

The journal will consider submissions containing material that previously formed part of a PhD or Doctor of Science thesis that has been published as a manuscript in accordance with the requirements of the awarding institution.

Preprints

Preprints are the author's version of a scientific manuscript before official review in a journal, which is stored on a public server; preprints may also be posted at any time during review. The publication of preprints is not considered a preliminary publication or duplication of publications and does not interfere with the process of consideration of the article in the journal.

Authors should indicate preprint placement details, including DOI and licensing terms, when submitting the original article or at any other time during review of the article in the journal. After the article is published, the author must update the preprint information and add a bibliographic description of the article with a DOI and a URL link to the published version of the article on the journal's website.

Preprints must be indicated in the list of used sources of articles submitted for review in the journal.

Authors must have all necessary permissions to reuse previously published material and appropriate attribution.

In case of detection of plagiarism, self-plagiarism or duplication of publications during review and editorial processing, the editors reject the article without the right to resubmit. Manuscripts of articles in which, after checking for plagiarism, a significant percentage of textual borrowings were found, the editors return to the authors for revision.

In case of detection of plagiarism, self-plagiarism or duplication of publications in an already published article, an announcement will be made on the page of the article in the journal and the article withdrawal procedure will be launched.
