Some aspects of preparing and holding mathematical competitions at the Institute of SCIP

Abstract

The issue of organization, preparation and holding of mathematical competitions of various levels in ІSCIP (Institute of Special Communications and Information Protection) was considered. The olympic movement in KPI (National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”) has deep roots, established traditions, a glorious history and powerful and comprehensive support from the leadership. Since 2010, faculty-level mathematical competitions have been held regularly at ІSCIP by MA and PT (department of Mathematical Analysis and Probability Theory) teachers working here. Almost all teachers of the department took part in the All-Ukrainian Mathematical Open Olympiad. The preparation of students and cadets for the Olympiad of various levels was carried out during the work of mathematical circles that worked in ІSCIP and at the department, partly at lectures and practical classes, at planning consultations and at special consultations on preparation for the Olympiad. The analysis and solution of the tasks proposed at the Olympiad were also carried out. Methodical development of individual selected topics was carried out and implemented by teachers of mathematics of ІSCIP, who also ensured the organization, conduct of the Olympiad and verification of works in the conditions of the military status of ІSCIP. The article lists the topics of methodical development, samples of tickets for the first and senior years at ІSCIP and some other faculties for comparison. Some organizational statistics are provided. It should be noted that, traditionally, in terms of the number of Olympiad participants, ІSCIP ranks high among other faculties.
